“Towards a Precipice - Bull Moose and Wolf Pack”

Time is made to stand still within this sculpture, a life and death situation is being captured. It is a moment when three members of a Wolf Pack have pushed a stalwart Bull Moose to the very edge of its survival within a dried up swampy enclave.

On the end of a rock mound with no more room to run, this Bull Moose stands ready to turn and fight, creating a reaction of hesitation within the minds of the wolves, who are anticipating swinging antlers and projecting hooves of the moose.

“Arizona Highland Ambush - Painted Horse and Mountain Lion”

The Mountain Lion - also known as the cougar, puma, and panther will prey on a variety of livestock, including horses. Their preferred attack position is from above their prey. This wild Painted Horse roams the rocky desert areas of the mid western states and has a Tobiano spotted colour pattern, a particular combination of white and another colour spectrum. The horse recoils backward into a defensive position at this surprise attack.

THE ART OF

HARVEY BODACH

A CANADIAN LANDSCAPE AND WILDLIFE ARTIST

Creating sculptures in three dimensional space creates new challenges and offers greater opportunities for the visual artist. Compositional designs now can go beyond a flat working surface toward a 360 degree working area of real objects in space. So when capturing that particular moment in time and forming a sculpture to tell the story, multiple perspectives need to be taken into account for the artist. The viewer can take pleasure in seeing the art from a new perspective each time they choose a new position.

This Sculpture Gallery will continue to expand in the coming years. At present only sculptures created from wet clay, with single firings toward bisque and using acrylic paints are being created as originals with no limited editions. Sculptures done with oil based clays and cast in bronze are on the drawing board in the next few years, and these will offer limited editions to be created.
