The Cougar adapts well to a variety of habitats, from deserts in the central latitudes, to mountains of various heights, and to all types of forests. As long as there is great protective cover or camouflage when giving birth or hunting prey.

Being a solitary creature, it will only interact among other cats when mating or if a mother is rasing cubs. Mothers give birth to between one and six cubs who will stay with her until they’re 12 to 18 months of age.

Having found a secluded rock ledge with a den high up on a mountain ridge, this female has given birth to one cub which will stay with her until they are between 12 and 18 months. Cubs are born with spots, which usually disappear by the time they are roughly nine months old, Within this wide open and protected area, the female Cougar can easily spot its prey when hunting.

(Scientific Name: Puma concolor)
