The Canada Lynx hunts around twilight hours and at night, when snowshoe hares of the boreal forest are most active. They travel on specific trails or wait in ambush beds for prey. They are not always successful when hunting and need rest after vigorous exertion, like this winter Lynx during a moonlit night.

The winter coat of this Lynx creates interesting streaming textures and deep pockets within the fur to explore. A thick silvery grey brown colour coats the fur with white tipped edges conveying a frosted icicle appearance. This differs from the thinner yellowish‑grey or rusty reddish‑brown coat of summer.

Their legs are long, with the rear limbs longer than the front ones, giving the body a forward tilt look or slightly stooped appearance. The footpads are large and well covered in fur, great for moving through winter snows. The tail is very short and black tipped, but their ears are long, with dark hairs pointed toward the tip, giving it a distinct look. Eyes project a yellow brown to a light yellow‑green appearance.

(Scientific Name: Lynx Canadensis)
